At 17, Joshua Elliott experienced the most vulnerable event of his life, being diagnosed with a brain tumor. In this deeply personal talk, Josh describes what he learned from vulnerability, how it can lead to purpose, and why purpose rooted in dignity is the path to true community.

Josh Elliott is the Director of Operations for Wine To Water, an international water aid non-profit, headquartered in Boone, North Carolina. Josh began volunteering and traveling internationally with Wine To Water while studying communications and sociology at Appalachian State University. Upon graduation, he was hired to help build and deepen the organization’s impact by establishing local teams in target project regions. Today, he is the strategic advisor for W|W’s field offices in Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Nepal, and Tanzania as well as 50+ international project partners worldwide.
